The Alton, Ia., Democrat, Alton, Sioux, Iowa, USA Friday April 27, 1934

The entire community was shocked when on Monday afternoon (April 16, 1934) last week, the sad news of the death of Lou Becker, who only a few days before, seemingly well, was attending to the field work on his farm, became known.

Louis Emil Helmuth Becker, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Becker of LeMars, was born January 13, 1884, in Reading township, Sioux county, on the place where he spent his entire lifetime. Early in his infancy he was implanted into Christ by holy baptism, and in mature years stood at the altar of the Lord with mouth and heart pledging himself to remain faithful unto Him and His church even unto death. He spent his youth under the parental roof, asisting his father on the farm.

On November 4, 1914, he was joined in marriage with Miss Jennie Nichoison, daugher of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nichoison of Struble, and took charge of the farm while his parents retired to make their home in LeMars. This happy union was blessed with four sons and one daughter.

In general Mr. Becker enjoyed good health until about five years ago, at which time he underwent a successful operation and was able to return to his farm work. On May 11 he was suddenly stricken with emboilsm. He was in a very critical condition and all that could be done was of no avail.

He attained the age of 50 years, three months and three days, and is survived by his grief stricken widow: his sons, Ralph, Ronald, Wallace and William, his daugher, Gladys, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Becker of LeMars, his brothers, Henry of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Emil, Helmuth and Alwin of LeMars: his sisters, Emilie Carlson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Tillie Braugwin, Lillian of LeMars, Amanda Harrison of Sioux City, and Norma of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. John's church with the pastor, Rev. C. D. Nuoffer, in charge. Interment was made at St. Paul's cemetery.

With the vast army of his friends, The Alton Democrat joiners in sympathy for the bereaved family.

Honorary pallbearers were E. J. Dealey and Leo H. Keough, Sioux City; H. E., McDonald, Tilden; Jno Garding, Struble, Fred Jahn, Maurice and Lou Hansman, Maurice. Active pallbearers were John Vlotho, Jr., Henry Vlotho (Rest of info unreadable)
