Cletus J. Hansen, 92, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Cletus Joseph Hansen was born Oct. 31, 1917 in Lismore, Minn., where he started elementary school. In 1927 he moved with his family to Granville and continued his education. Cletus served with the U.S. Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he settled in Plymouth County and began farming.

On Nov. 23, 1943, he was united in marriage to Loretta C. Fiedler at St. Catherine's Church in Oyens and they established their home on a farm near Oyens. Later, they moved to Pocahontas and then to Carroll where Cletus worked as a plumber until 1968, when they moved to Fort Dodge. Cletus continued working as a Master Plumber and started his own business, Hansen Plumbing, in 1974. He retired in 1987.

Cletus was a member of Corpus Christi Church, was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the American Legion, Fort Dodge Home Builders Association, and Catholic Order of Foresters.

Cletus is survived by his children, Larry and his wife Carol of Mountain Park, Okla., Don and his wife Barb of Des Moines, Wally and his wife Annette of Fort Dodge and Darlene Law and her husband Bruce of Canton, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and two on the way; brothers, Jerome and Emil; sisters, Irene Leinen, Mary Ann Streff, Rita Pottebaum, Franciscan Nun Sister Margaret Hansen and Mildred Gearke.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Margaret (Gaul) Hansen; his wife, Loretta in 2006; brothers, Alfred, Gerald, Lawrence, Ambrose, and Leonard; sister, Delores Ludwig.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home in Fort Dodge and 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church in Fort Dodge with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 1856.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. today (Monday) at the funeral home, where there will be a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Knights of Columbus Council 613.
