Leo Halweg Dies New Years Day

Funeral services for Leo Halweg, 53, former resident of LeMars and Merrill, who died Monday January 1 of Lukemia at a Storm Lake hospital after an illness of two months will be Tuesday at Alta and at Storm Lake.

A service will be held at 1:30 pm at the farm home near Alta and another will be held at 2 pm at the Lutheran church at Storm Lake. Burial will be in a Storm Lake cemetery.

Mr Halweg was born June 18, 1897 at Cresco, Iowa. He farmed in the vicinities of Merrill and LeMars and moved to a farm near Alta in 1941. He had lived in this community for years.

He married Miss Minnie Mattas October 28, 1920, at Merrill. She survives.

Mr Halweg was a member of the Lutheran church.

Survivors besides the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Fern Muller of Peterson, Iowa, a son, Armond Halweg of Des Moines, the mothers, Mrs Minnie Halweg of Merrill. Five brothers, Louis and Herman, both of LeMars, Dowie and Harry, both of Merrill and Carl of Sioux City and two grandchildren
