Garet Nigg, 51, of Le Mars, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Garet Craig Nigg was born July 17, 1958 in Glendale, Calif., the son of Craig and Ruth (Moller) Nigg. As a young child, the family moved to Thousand Oaks, Calif. Garet graduated from Thousand Oaks High School in 1975. He later attended Moorpark College where he received a degree in business. Garet worked as a warehouse manager in the computer industry for several years in California. He later worked in management for a home alarm manufacturer. In 2004, Garet moved to Le Mars.

From a young boy on, Garet always enjoyed baseball, from coaching a successful little league team to attending or watching professional ball. As a youngster he enjoyed fishing trips with his dad. In later years he enjoyed bowling and games of chance.

He will be remembered for his sense of humor and will be much loved and missed by his family.

Survivors include his parents, Craig and Ruth Nigg of Le Mars; two sisters, Danna Dreiling of Oxnard, Calif., and Kerry Irene Nigg of Le Mars; an aunt, Rita Nigg of California; cousins, Eric Nigg of Oregon, Kathy Moreno and Darise Kiesendahl of California.

Garet was preceded in death by a nephew, Travis Nigg; grandparents: Walter and Irene Nigg and Vera Benson; and an uncle Bruce Nigg.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with the Rev. Jason Larson of the Le Mars United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Merrill. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today (Friday) at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will continue Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Kerry Irene Nigg, David Caldwell, Josh Langel, Eric Losshult, Anthony Blake and Zach Sherlock.
