Rosemary "Rosie" Sitzmann, 83, of Kingsley, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Rosemary was born July 29, 1926, in Le Mars to Joe and Rose (Langel) Rolfes. She attended St. Joseph's school in Le Mars. On Nov. 29, 1944, she was married to Virgil Sitzmann at Neptune Catholic Church. After being united in marriage, Virgil and Rosemary moved to a farm west of Kingsley where they lived until 1977, when they moved into Kingsley.

She was a member of the St. Michael's Guild and Catholic Daughters.

She loved her family and friends. She was also fond of gardening, canning, flowers, and African violets. She also loved to dance to the music of Glenn Miller at the Avalon in Remsen. Rosemary was proud that she was able to stay in her own home.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis and his wife Dorothy, Darrell and his wife Vicki both of Kingsley; daughters Rose Ann and her husband Dennis Pine of Johnston and Pam and her husband Dallas Zellmer of Moville; a son-in-law Joe Sparks of Aurora, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters; Ann (Evon) Puetz of Le Mars, Esther (Ron) Kurth of Primghar, Jeanie (Norbert) Schmitz of Slayton, Minn., and Lois (Paul) Woll of Worthington, Minn.; a brother Wally (Terry) Rolfes of Merrill and a sister-in-law Kitty Rolfes of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil; daughter Kay Sparks; sisters Florence and Rosella ,who died in infancy, Betty Wolbers and Leona Schmitz; and brother Al Rolfes.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley with burial at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. There will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rohde Funeral Home in Kingsley.
