Donna L. Havener, 77, of Hinton, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness.
Donna L. Havener was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Odebolt, the daughter of Francis and Hilda (Wilken) Kallsen. Donna graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1950 and from Wayne State Teachers College. She taught school for three years.
She married Chester R. Havener June 7, 1953 in Sioux City. Chester and Donna farmed in the Hinton area for many years. Chester died Jan. 8, 2007 in Sioux City.
Donna was active in the Hinton United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and youth leader.
She was active in the United Methodist Women's Circle,4-H Youth Committee and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her four children: Kayleen Patton and her husband Steve of Cedar Rapids, Kenneth Havener and his wife Helen of Green Bay, Wis., LeAnn Havener of Omaha, Neb., and Keith Havener of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren: Tim Patton and his wife Wendy, Terese, Troy and Trinity Patton, Sara, Erin, Nathan, Brady, Taylor and Karley Havener, one great-grandson: Grayson Havener
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers: Ronald and Robert Kallsen.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hinton United Methodist church with the Rev. Merrill Muller and the Rev. Neva Perdue officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
Visitation was Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Funeral Home in Sioux City.
Pallbearers were Bill, Jim, Rich and Pat Kallsen, Brad and Scott Havener.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hinton United Methodist Church of the Gospel Mission.
