Pioneer Woman Has Been Sick For Many MonthsMrs. W. W. Crow of Akron died at her home February 12, at the age of 91 years, four months and 18 days. For many months she had been bedfast due to the frailties of advanced age.
Margaret Luberta Price was born September 25, 1853, near Moundsville, Marshall county, West Virginia, the daughter of Argelon and Rachel Price. She grew to young womanhood there, and on October 23, 1873, was united in marriage with William Wesley Crow. To this union 18 children were born, eight of whom preceded their mother in death. In the spring of 1886, Mr. and Mrs. Crow and family moved for West Virginia to North Dakota and engaged in farming near Ludden, until the fall of 1895, when they came to Plymouth county, Iowa, locating at Millnerville. They remained there until 1898 and then moved onto a farm in Union county, S.D., west of Akron. In the fall of 1898, they purchased a farm in Portland township, Plymouth county, and moved thereon in the spring of 1899. They continued to reside there until Mr. Crow’s death in 1916, after which Mrs. Crow bought the home in Akron where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Left to mourn the departure of an ever kind and devoted mother are four sons and six daughters: Dallas K. Crow, of Winifred, Mont.; Wm. M. Crow, of Pine Island, Minn.; Sylvia Waddle, of Waubay, S.D.; Esta B. Kuck, of Hetland, S.D.; Edward F. Crow, of Hetland, S.D.; Gertrude R. Clark, of Canning, S.D.; Edith L. Doughty, of Hammond, Ind.; Mrs. Mamie E. Dow, of Fairpoint, S.D.; Mrs. Docie Gabel, of Bath, S.D.; and Bert L. Crow, of Mitchell, S.D.; also 144 grandchildren and 61 great grandchildren.
