Pioneer Resident Succumbs To Long Sickness At Sioux CityMrs. Mary Day, 90, of 814 Central Ave. S.E. died Friday morning in a hospital at Sioux City after a long illness.
Mrs. Day was born June 25, 1854, in England and came to the United States with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Parker. She was 8 years old at the time, and the crossing was made under sail, taking 9 weeks.
The family located in Tama county. She was married to Frank Day, and came to Plymouth County, residing here ever since. Mr. Day died 20 years ago. She was a member of the Methodist church and the Rebekah lodge.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. A. S. Crabb of Kingsley; Mrs. Fred Hodgson of Dawson, Minn.; and Frances Day of Sioux City; one son, J.C. Day of Remsen; 7 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Mauer Funeral Home. Rev. J. J. Share will officiate. Burial will be in the city cemetery.
