MRS. HACKER’S FUNERAL FRIDAY
Mrs. Bertha Hacker, nee Wolf, was, born July 26, 1863, in South Germany. It was here that she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
She spent a large portion of her youth in the city of Berlin. In the year 1893, she came to this country, but after one year she returned to Germany for a short visit.
In the year 1895, she was married to Thomas Hacker. Four children were born to this happy union, all of whom are living.
After their marriage, the couple made their home in LeMars where Mr. Hacker engaged in construction work. In 1934, Mr. Hacker passed away. Mrs. Hacker then made her home with a daughter, Mrs. Jack Schultz, for seven years. For the past two years, she lived alone.
Mrs. Hacker was taken to the hospital on Thursday, Jan. 20, and passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 23. She had reached the age of 80 years, 5 months and 27 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure, 4 children, Mrs. H.J. Schultz of Suisun, California, Mrs. Jack Schultz of LeMars, Mrs. H. H. Booton, of Minneapolis, and Gerhardt Hacker of Bremerton, Washington.
There are also 8 grandchildren and a host of friends and acquaintances.
Mrs. Hacker has been a faithful member of St. John’s American Lutheran Church since its inception. She was the only remaining charger member of the Ladies Aid Society of her church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at St. John’s American Lutheran Church, the Rev. L. L. Belk officiating. Mauer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
