GALVA, Iowa -- Arley Vondrak, 64, of Galva died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish in Holstein, Iowa. Burial will be in Galva Township East Cemetery, Galva. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer vigil and rosary at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Arley was born Feb. 21, 1941, to Francis and Marguerite (Lamoureux) Vondrak in Sioux City. He lived his youth in the Hinton, Iowa, area. He was educated at St. Michael's in Leeds and graduated from Heelan High School in 1959. He then went on to college at Iowa State and Creighton University of Omaha.
He married Judi Speer on June 1, 1963, in Sioux City. He worked for Wohl Shoe Company, a division of Brown Shoe Corp. He lived in several states through his 26 years with Brown. He later returned to Iowa and worked as a food broker for Cookies Food Products of Wall Lake, Iowa and Hockenburg-Newburg of Des Moines, Iowa. Later, he worked for Rod's Fertilizer & Sales before retiring in 2003. Upon retirement, he still drove semi truck and helped anyone who needed help.
The love of Arley's family was foremost in his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, spending time with his family, especially with his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed visiting with people and helping anyone who needed help.
Survivors include his wife, Judi; his parents; two brothers, Darrell and his wife, Sue of Leon, Iowa and Lynn of Sioux City; a sister, Jody and her husband, Greg Siedelman of Omaha; a sister-in-law, Iveta (Vondrak) Kerber; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marllys and Rod Brosamle of Galva; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron and Larry; both grandparents; a sister-in-law, Jane Vondrak; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Loretta and Les Speer.
