HINTON, Iowa -- Robert L. "Bob" Trometer, 65, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Hinton, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo following a year long battle with cancer.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. James Bruch officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.
Bob was born Dec. 24, 1939, in Sioux City, the son of Wesley A. and Hazel (Markinson) Trometer. He married Evelyn J. Angove on Aug. 16, 1963, in Remsen, Iowa.
He worked for the Farmer's Co-op Elevator in Hinton, then for Iowa Beef Processors. In 1975, he accepted a transfer to the I.B.P. plant in Amarillo. In 1977, he joined Owens-Corning Fiberglass and retired from there in 2001.
He was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Amarillo. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and the New Mexico mountains.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Evelyn Trometer; and a son, Craig Trometer of Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
