KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Joseph "Joe" W. Timmins, 85, of Kingsley died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Kingsley. Burial will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by American Legion Nash Post 140 of Kingsley. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a rosary at 4 p.m., and a Scripture service at 7 p.m., all at Earnest-Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Mr. Timmins was born Dec. 25, 1915, in Kingsley, the son of Frank and Isabelle (Bradley) Timmins. He was raised in the Kingsley area and graduated from Kingsley High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Berniece Flammang on Oct. 31, 1944, in Kingsley. He worked as a rural mail carrier in the Kingsley area until his retirement in 1978.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Nash Post 140, Barber Shop Quartet, Veterans of Foreign Wars and AA. He announced and was an umpire for several seasons for Legion baseball games.

Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Gerard and Jan Timmins of Colorado Springs, Colo., Pat and Mary Timmins of Sioux City, and Gale and Tricia Timmins of Tucker, Ga.; a daughter, Sheila Beisel of Moville, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark; two sisters; and a brother.
