AKRON, Iowa -- Helen Tentinger, 77, of Akron, formerly of Chatsworth, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 10, 2005, at her residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A., in Akron, with the Rev. Jean Morse officiating. Burial will be in Union Creek Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present after 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Carlsen Funeral Home-Schroeder Chapel in Akron.

Helen A. Tentinger was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Akron, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Haage) Meyer. She attended country school near Akron.

She was united in marriage to Richard E. Tentinger on May 16, 1950, in Omaha. Together, they were the parents of five children, Larry, Bob, Tom, Cheryl and Dan. The couple made their home in Chatsworth, Iowa, for many years, where she was a homemaker for her family. Richard passed away Nov. 22, 1990. After her husband passed away, she moved to Akron.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, especially pinochle. She also enjoyed decorating her home. But most of all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include five children and spouses, Larry and Darlene Tentinger of Beresford, S.D., Bob and Roely Tentinger of Westfield, Iowa, Tom and Connie Tentinger of Akron, Cheryl and Randy Shideler of Akron and Dan Tentinger of Akron; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Lloyd and Betty Meyer of Akron; two sisters, Alma and her husband, Jim Knecht of Akron and Dorothy Boomgaarden of Hawarden, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and an infant daughter, Karen.
