KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Lloyd L. Taylor, 80, of Kingsley died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at his residence.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Earnest and Michaelson Funeral Home in Kingsley. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Lloyd was born July 23, 1922, in rural Kingsley, the son of Clarence G. and Elizabeth A. (Lancaster) Taylor. He attended rural school at Rutland 3, located in Woodbury County, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army from Feb. 13, 1943 until his honorable discharge on Jan. 22, 1946. After his military service, he returned to the Kingsley area, where he farmed until his retirement. He farmed west of Kingsley until he purchased the farm, which his grandfather, George Taylor, owned southeast of Kingsley.
He enjoyed traveling to many various places in the world, he visited England, Europe, Russia, New Zealand, Canada, China and Alaska. He enjoyed hunting, spending many hunting trips in Alaska, hunting for moose, caribou and elk. He also brought back smoked salmon from his hunting trips. There were many athletic events he watched on TV.
Survivors include a sister and her husband, Pearl and William Linden of Moville, Iowa; a special friend, Bonnie Carel of Kingsley; a sister-in-law, Alice Pratt of Kingsley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Clifford, Orren, George, Edward, Harold, Victor and Charley; and three sisters, Maud Pierce, Alice Taylor and Nellie Campbell.
