OBITUARY
Franklin Eberhard, son of David and Barbara Eberhard, was born near Merrill, Iowa, January 24, 1868, in Liberty township.
He died at the Memorial hospital in Wessington Springs, S.D., on March 22, 1951, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 26 days.
At the age of 21 years he was united in marriage to Lena Sanford and to this union three children were born. Two children and his wife preceded him in death.
October 8, 1898, he married Carrie Ann Fletcher and to this union one child was born. They lived at Dell Rapids, S.D., Ireton, Iowa, Royalton, Minn., Seattle, and Port Orchard, Wash., Wessington Springs and Alpena, S.D., the latter 26 years.
Mr. Eberhard had four operations in 1941, and since that time had spent much time in hospitals. When he was able he enjoyed being up and around visiting with friends. In 1949 and also in 1950 he was taken by ambulance to the hospital the day after Easter seriously ill, and it was not expected he would survive in either case, but he was able to return home.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Serethea Marcy of Seattle and Mrs. Angeline Barnes of Alpena, and two granddaughters; also, two brothers, Henry of Everett, Wash., and Jake of New Rockford, N.D.; two sisters, Julia Ausman, Lake Bluffs, Ill., Bertha Stohsner and an adopted sister, Salome Lauck of Chicago.
Three brothers, Charles and Herman of Merrill and John of Lane, S.D.; and two sisters, Amelia Heiden of Merrill and Elizabeth of Santa Clara, Calif., preceded him in death.
