WAS LIFE LONG RESIDENT HERE
Ed Blankenburg, 60 years of age and a lifelong resident of Plymouth County, well known and prominent farmer, died at his home in Akron Tuesday evening of last week, following a brief illness.
Mr. Blankenburg was born in Sioux City, September 17, 1874, and farmed for many years in the vicinity of Hinton.
When a young man, he was married to Estella Keane, of Sioux City. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. John Russell, and a son, Will Blankenburg of Akron, and three grandchildren. He also leaves three brothers, Fred Blankenburg of Hinton, Otto Blankenburg of Sioux City and Will Schroeder of Westfield; and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Givens, of Merrill, Mrs. Millie Titus, of Sioux City, Mrs. Emma Omeg of Westfield, and Mrs. Augusta Mathwig, of Hinton. Mrs. Blankenburg died 12 years ago, and a daughter Mrs. John Luken, preceded him in death.
The funeral was held Friday at Akron, Rev. J.T. McKenna, of Merrill officiating, and interment made in Calvary cemetery in Sioux City.
The deceased had many friends here who regret his demise.
