Brownlee Rites Held Here Last Thursday
Died Following Serious Surgical OperationFuneral services for Walter Edward Brownlee, farmer living west of Kingsley, who died in the Methodist hospital in Sioux City Tuesday morning of last week, were held in the M. E. church here last Thursday, the services being conducted by Rev. H. E. Whyte. Death resulted from a serious surgical operation performed a week before his death.
Walter Edward Brownlee was born in Ida county, on August 22, 1892, and spent the first 37 years of his life on a farm in the vicinity of Cushing. On Feb. 8, 1906, he was united in marriage to Blanche Whitmer, of Anthon, and to this union two children were born.
In the spring of 1919, Mr. Brownlee moved with his family to a farm east of Kingsley, and later to the present residence west of town, which has been their home for the past ten years.
While he has never had a strong physique, yet he was industrious, and enjoyed reasonable good health most of the time. Last February he was taken seriously ill and has been quite poorly all thru the spring and summer. About two weeks ago he was forced to undergo an operation at the Methodist hospital, and had been recovering nicely until Monday evening when he took a sudden turn for the worse. He passed away on Tuesday noon, July 13th, at the age of 55 years, 9 months, and 21 days.
He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, two sons, Blaine of Anthon, and Wayne, of Kingsley; also one grandson, three brothers and a sister, and many friends in the several communities where he has lived.
Following the funeral service held Thursday, interment was made in the Kingsley cemetery.
