KILLED BY FALL FROM TRUCK

John Ruhland, 3 years of age, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Ruhland, was killed instantly about noon Monday when he fell out of the truck in which was riding with his father, Coroner S.H. Luken of Plymouth County reported.

The little boy fell out of the truck when the door flew open, and he went underneath the truck’s dual wheels that ran over his head, crushing his skull, the coroner said. The boy would have been four years old October 17.

The accident happened 12 miles south of LeMars on county gravel road near the Lincoln Township Catholic Church, and near the Ed Sitzman farm. Sheriff Frank Scholer and Coroner Luken investigated the accident.

The Ruhlands live about 12 miles southeast of LeMars. Besides his parents, John is survived by a sister, Renee, 5, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ruhland.
