Scott J. Wilken, 35, of Akron, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.

Scott James Wilken was born Nov. 20, 1968, at Hawarden, to Merle and Jean (Brownmiller) Wilken. Scott was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig. He attended elementary school at Ireton and graduated from Le Mars Community High School in 1987. Scott was united in marriage to Julia Streufert on May 30, 1992, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Craig. Scott and Julia farmed in Preston Township where he was also a pork producer.

Scott was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig. He was a loving and caring father to his two daughters, Jessica and Allison. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, rodeos and watching NASCAR races.

Survivors include his wife, Julia of Akron; two daughters, Jessica and Allison at home; father and mother, Merle and Jean Wilken of Akron; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and John Erdmann of Moville and Amy and Gabe Davis of Le Mars; a niece and godchild, Kayla Erdmann of Moville; two nephews, Ben and Blake Erdmann of Moville; special friends and cousin, Brent and Theresa Brownmiller; his father-in-law, Dallas Streufert of Le Mars; a brother-in-law and his wife, David and Amy Streufert of Le Mars; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his mother-in-law, Judy Streufert.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Craig, with the Rev. Pete Petersen officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery at Craig. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Sunday at the Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time.
