Lois M. Stoffel, 76, of Le Mars, died Wednesday May 6, 2009 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars, following a brief illness. She was a resident at Plymouth Manor for one month.

Lois Mae Stoffel was born June 13, 1932, in Le Mars, the daughter of Alex and Mary (Neubrand) Stoffel. She grew up on a farm south of Le Mars and attended St. Joseph's Elementary School through fifth grade. When the family moved to Oyens Lois attended school at St. Catherine's and in 1951 she graduated from Remsen St. Mary's High School.

She was employed for several years with Sacred Heart Hospital in Le Mars before movng to Sioux City to work in the dietary department at Marian Health Center. She retired from Marian Health in 1997 and moved back to Le Mars to live at Floyd Valley Apartments.

Lois was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was a 58-year member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was active for many years as a volunteer with the Floyd Valley Hospital Auxiliary. She worked with the Siouxland Senior Companion program for 10 years. She enjoyed needlepoint and playing pinochle.

Survivors include five siblings: Sr. Joan Stoffel, O.S.F. of Dubuque, Earl Stoffel of Watertown, Tenn., Mary Roder and her husband Dick of Remsen, Margaret (Roeder) Landgraf and her husband George of Odebolt, and Robert Stoffel and his wife Sharon of Honey Creek; 17 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two aunts: Madeline Neubrand of Le Mars and Mary Agnes Neubrand of Wichita, Kan.; an uncle Bob Owens of Spokane, Wash.; and her many friends at Floyd Apartments who she considered to be her extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Oyens. Visitation will be anytime after 3 p.m. today (Friday) at the Feuerstein Funeral Home where there will be a Catholic Daughters rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.
