AKRON, Iowa -- Scott Thomas Ross, 33, of Akron died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, from injuries suffered in an auto accident west of Akron.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Akron Westfield Community School auditorium, with the Rev. Glenn Lundahl of Immanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 3 to 8 p.m. today at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. Arrangements are under the direction of Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron.

Scott Thomas Ross was born Jan. 19, 1971, in Sioux City, the son of Thomas and Bethene (Fischer) Ross. He graduated from Akron Westfield Community School in 1989 and from Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa. He was employed as a pilot with Sioux Falls Business Aviation for the past eight years.

In his free time, he loved motocross racing, making grandfather clocks, flying and his new business adventure, construction. Most of all, he loved having fun with his many friends.

He is survived by his parents, Tom and Bethene Ross of Akron; a sister and her husband, Kimberly and Todd Swancutt of Merrill, Iowa; two nieces, Makayla and Megan Swancutt of Merrill; maternal grandmother, Lydia Fischer of Merrill; paternal grandparents, Virgil and Vera Ross of Akron; four uncles and their wives, Ron and Sylvia Fischer, Tom and Bette Fischer and Gary and Sharon Fischer, all of Hinton, Iowa, and Jim and Barb Ross of Akron; two aunts and their husbands, Alyce and Don Dion of Westfield, Iowa, and Carolyn and Jim Marienau of Ankeny, Iowa; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, William Fischer; and an uncle, Dale Fischer.
