KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Alice Roepke, 92, of Kingsley died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Kingsley. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present 5 to 7 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Alice was born on a farm in Union Township, rural Kingsley, to William and Louise (Johnson) Bainbridge. She was the youngest child in her family. She had one sister, Opal, and three brothers, Dewey, Carl and Lloyd. When she was a young child her family moved from the farm in Union Township to a farm north of and adjoining the Kingsley Cemetery, in 1917. There they started the Kingsley Dairy and delivered milk to Kingsley residents. The dairy operated until 1942. She graduated from Kingsley High School in 1929.

On Jan. 11, 1933, she married George Roepke. After their marriage the couple lived and farmed northwest of Kingsley. In 1973 they retired and moved to a new home they built on South Hill in Kingsley. George died Feb. 8, 1978. She worked part-time at Happy Siesta Nursing Home in Remsen, Iowa, for many years.

She was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church for 75 years.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Jim and Joan Roepke of Le Mars, Iowa, and Armand and Sherry Roepke of Kingsley; five grandchildren, Nancy Ellsworth, Steve Roepke, Stacie Lindgren, Donna Stevenson and Cathy Lange; and 12 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan, Jacob and Samuel Lindgren, Jamie, Jackie and Jenna Ellsworth, Andrew, Jennifer and Christopher Stevenson and Hannah and Joshua Lange.

In addition to her husband, George, she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Opal; and three brothers, Dewey, Carl and Lloyd.
