Lyle C. Rosburg, 87, of Sioux City died Friday, July 12, 2002, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Cathedral of the Epiphany with the Rev. Paul-Louis Arts officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the U.S. Naval Reserve. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m.,and a parish vigil at 7 p.m., all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Rosburg was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Remsen, Iowa, the son of Gustav "Gus" and Anna (Erdmann) Rosburg. He married Lorine S. Feller on July 3, 1939, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen.
He had been employed with Montgomery Ward for more than 30 years, transferring from Carroll, Iowa, to Sioux City in 1957. After retiring, he became the caretaker for the Shaare Zion Synagogue for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Cathedral of the Epiphany and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and feeding squirrels and birds.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Rosburg of Sioux City; four daughters, Mary and her husband, Ross Lilly of Jefferson, S.D., Susan Johnston of Akron, Iowa, Ann Colbert of Republic, Mo., and Sandra and her husband, Mike Spidell of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Marie Nacke of Remsen; 19 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Keith and Clyde Rosburg; a granddaughter, Denise Rosburg; and a son-in-law, James Johnston.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kenneth Rosburg, J.R. Rosburg, Russ Lilly, Charles Lilly, Matthew Spidell and Nathan Johnston.
