Evelyn Riemenschneider, 86 (correction 96), of Sioux City died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at a Sioux City care center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Alex T. Washington officiating. Entombment will be in Logan Park Mausoleum.
Evelyn was born July 21, 1908, in Kingsley, Iowa, to Henry and Anna (Gehrig) Riemenschneider. She attended school in Kingsley and graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1925. She enrolled in nurse's training at St. Luke's Methodist Hospital in Sioux City and graduated in 1928. She was employed at the offices of Drs. Gitten and Dvorak in Sioux City for 10 years, then moved to Chicago for a year to become a certified in anesthesiology. She returned to Sioux City and worked for many years as an anesthetist at St. Luke's and Methodist Hospitals and St. Joseph's and St. Vincent's hospitals.
She was a member of the Anesthesia Society of Iowa and the Chicago Anesthesia Society. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards with friends at the Morningside Library.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Lorena and Ruby.
