VICKI FREKING
Vicki A. Freking, 60, of LeMars, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 20, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City.
The former Vicki Ann Crayne was born April 12, 1943, in Sioux City, the daughter of Richard and Frances (Henn) Crayne. She grew up in LeMars and graduated from LeMars Community High School in 1961. While she was in high school, she was a member of the school’s golf team. Following high school, she continued to play golf in the City League at the Municipal Golf Course. Vicki attended Westmar College for two years.
Vicki Crayne married James Freking on June 3, 1967, at St. James Catholic Church in LeMars. They resided in LeMars for the majority of their married lives. She remained a member of St. James Catholic Church. Vicki stayed active with golf, bowling, and devoting her life to raising her children. Along with her busy life, she remained an avid Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Freking, of LeMars; six children, Bill Freking and his wife, Julie, of Brandon, S.D., Deb Freking and her boyfriend, Gary Williams, of Fayetteville, Ark., Rich Freking and his wife, Jessica, of Coon Rapids, Minn., Brenda Plueger and her husband, Rick, of LeMars, Barb Freking of Iowa City, and Diane Freking of LeMars; six grandchildren; a brother, Dick Crayne and his wife, Donna, of Waverly; and a sister-in-law, Ellen Crayne, of Waverly.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church in LeMars with the Rev. James Tigges presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery in LeMars. Friends may call anytime after 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Feuerstein Funeral Home in LeMars. The parish rosary will be held at 4 p.m. and the Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Larry Freking, Steve Freking, Doug Gotto, Matt Crayne, Don Freking and Bruce Anliker.
