Erma V. Plendl, 92, of Sioux City died Friday, March 4, 2005, at Holy Spirit Assisted Living Center after a brief illness.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steven Brodersen officiating. Graveside services will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Erma was born Sept. 13, 1912, on a farm in Elkhorn Township near Kingsley, Iowa, one of 10 children born to George A. and Agnes (Conley) Pratt. She attended and graduated from Union Consolidated in Le Mars, Iowa. Erma helped raise her brothers and sisters prior to her marriage to Leonard.

Erma married Leonard E. Plendl on Oct. 19, 1939, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City. Leonard passed away Nov. 25, 2001, in Sioux City, after 62 years of marriage.

She was a longtime member of Cathedral of the Epiphany and of the ladies confraternity of the church. She was also a member of Eagle's Club and many card clubs. Erma loved ball room dancing, playing cards and traveling. She also enjoyed billiards, gardening and fishing. She loved cooking and baking. One of Erma's greatest joys was entertaining friends and family. Most of all, Erma was a loving wife, always loving, caring and devoted to her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Tom and Jean Plendl and Lyle and Debbe Plendl, all of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Janice Lehmann of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Lynn, Mike, Matt and Kathy, Joe, Sara, George and Hilary; six great-grandchildren, Katie, Jody, Ilsa, Ellinor, Laynee and Brennon; six brothers, Donald Pratt of Pierson, Iowa, Lyle and Marion Pratt of Washta, Iowa, Clarence and Dorothy Pratt of Aurelia, Iowa, Robert and Patricia Pratt of Le Mars, Orlin and Ellen Pratt of Remsen, Iowa and Richard and Donna Pratt of Le Mars; a sister, Dorothy Rainboth of Marcus, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews. Also, a special thanks for the loyal friendship of Jackana, Dorothy Boulden, Bernice McCarville, Julie Tippler and John Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard; two grandchildren, Greg Lehmann and A.J. Plendl; a brother, Wyndom Pratt; a sister, Iona Sudtelgte; and a sister-in-law, Vonnie Pratt.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Pratt, Terry Pratt, Alan Pratt, Neil Groetken, Mike Lehmann, Matt Lehmann, Joe Plendl and George Plendl.
