KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Delores (Laurie) Pierce, 83, of Kingsley died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Duane Miesner officiating. Burial will be in Kingsley Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.
Delores was born July 21, 1919, in Madison, Neb., the daughter of Leo and Tillie Lierman Klug. She graduated from Madison High School.
She married Porter C. Pierce on May 20, 1937, in Yankton, S.D. After their marriage, they made their home in Kingsley. Delores was involved in teaching Sunday school for 25 years and provided day care for more than 20 years to infants and preschoolers. Her husband, Porter, died May 2, 1991, in Kingsley.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Kingsley.
She is survived by five sons, Don Pierce and his wife, Mary, and Jim Pierce and his wife, Jean, all of Sioux City, Gary Pierce of Jefferson, S.D., Dean Pierce and his wife, Sue of Kingsley, and Terry Pierce and his wife, Kathy of Moville, Iowa; five daughters, Maureen Fisher and her husband, Terry, and Julie Barto and her husband, Dennis, all of Sioux City, Sandy Maring and her husband, Charlie, and Deb Pierce, all of Kingsley, and Col. Carol Pierce of Fort Knox, Ky.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Brian Pierce; a granddaughter, Theresa Pierce; two brothers, Hillard and Ray Klug; three sisters, Irene Buresh, Verona McKay and LaVerna Hanson; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Pierce.
