ALTA, Iowa -- Linda Marie Peterson, 54, of Alta died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Hope Evangelical Free Church in Storm Lake, Iowa, with the Revs. Jim Hofman and Randal Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Elk Township Cemetery in Alta. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the Barker Funeral Home in Alta.

Mrs. Peterson was born March 13, 1947, in Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Ina (Claypool) Schultz. She attended school in Merrill and Le Mars. Her family moved to Laurens, Iowa, in 1963 and she graduated from Laurens High School in 1965. She married Clayton Peterson on March 7, 1971, in rural Alta. She attended college at Westmar for two years and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames in 1969. The couple farmed north of Alta until retiring in 1992. They spent winters in Casa Grande, Ariz.

She was an active member of the Hope Evangelical Free Church of Storm Lake and was also a member of the Busy Bee Club.

Survivors include her husband; a son, David of Sioux City; her parents of Laurens; four sisters, Margaret and her husband, Tom Hughes, of Sioux City, Edith and her husband, Mike Kirsch, of Burnsville, Minn., Wanda Schultz of Des Moines, and Barbara Halligan of Laurens; her mother-in-law, Emma of Aurelia; a sister-in-law and her husband, Lorraine and Gene Ernst of Victoria, Minn.; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Myron and Estelle Peterson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Clarence Peterson; and an infant daughter.
