MOVILLE, Iowa -- Gladys E. Petersen, 73, of Moville died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City after a lengthy illness.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Harold Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.

Mrs. Petersen was born January 7, 1929, in Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Nels and Ida (Johnson) Lindgren. She was raised in the Kingsley area. She married Leonard Petersen on November 19, 1947. Following her marriage, she has lived in the Moville area. Mr. Petersen died on November 28, 1983 in Moville.

Mrs. Petersen was a housewife. She was a member of Moville United Methodist Church. She was a social member of The Meadows Golf Club. Mrs. Petersen enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and her flower garden.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Diane and Richard Kluver of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Barb and Tom Thiesen of Lawton, Iowa; two sons and their wives, Joe and Deb Petersen of Moville and Kevin and Stacey Petersen of Moville; 12 grandchildren, Chad, Ryan and Heidi Kluver; Jason Petersen and Courtney (Petersen) Bruneau; Nick, Nathan, Travis and Tiffany Thiesen; and Easton, Jade, and Reagan Petersen; six great-grandchildren; one brother, John and his wife Elna Lindgren of Kingsley; and two sisters, Florence Henry of Alexandria, Minn. and Maxine Parker of Sioux City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Harry, Al and Art Lindgren; and three sisters, Ruby Apollo, Ann Taylor and Vera Plendl.
