SLOAN, Iowa -- Lucille Ethel Park, 87, of Sloan died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Waco, Texas.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. today at Congregational Church of Christ in Sloan, with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Burial will be in Sloan Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.
Lucille was born Aug. 13, 1915, in Plymouth County, Iowa, the daughter of Fredrick E. and Clara Alice (Merrill) Maloney. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.
On April 17, 1938, she married Wesley Albert Park in Elk Point, S.D. The couple lived in Sloan until moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1957. They moved back to Sloan in 1979. They have wintered in southern Texas since 1979.
She was a member of Congregational Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid. She also was a member of American Legion auxiliary in Sloan, where she was a former president, the Shrine Auxiliary, the Shrine Clownettes and Sergeant Floyd Holiday Ramblers Club for more than 20 years. She was a Blue lady volunteer at the V.A. Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, with more than 4000 hours. She was a seamstress and a good cook. The couple were world wide travelers, having visited many other nations.
Survivors include her husband, Wesley Park of Sloan; her children, Ken of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Arlene and her husband, Alan McFarland of Sloan, Jim and his wife, Ruth of Appleton, Wis., and John of Kent, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Klein.
