OYENS, Iowa -- Rodney "Pat" Niehus, 62, of Sheldon, Iowa, formerly of Oyens, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen, Iowa, with the Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Oyens. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Niehus was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Oyens, the son of Andrew and Adeline (Wolbers) Niehus. He was raised in Oyens and received his education at St. Catherine's Catholic School. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1959. He was employed in the construction industry and also was a truck driver for various companies in the area.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Kimberly and Mark McCumber and their children, Mitchel and Kayla of Sergeant Bluff; a son and his wife, Dean and Beth and their children, Nathan, Nicholas and Nolan of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Ralph and Jean of Le Mars, Iowa; two sisters and their husbands, Donna and Jerry Frerichs of Le Mars, and Kay and Steve Theeler of Akron, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Helen Niehus of Le Mars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister in childhood, Lavonne; and two brothers, Doyle and Jim.
