Funeral services for Rev. George W. Hoefs, Nemaha, Iowa, retired E.U.B. pastor, were held today, Monday, October 19, at 2 p.m. in the Stanton Township Evangelical United Brethren church. Rev. J. Paul Stevens, Stanton Township, Rev. Roland Walkes, Yankton, S.D., and Rev. Glenn Nelson, Albert City, Iowa, officiated. Burial was in the LeMars City Cemetery with Mauer funeral home in charge of arrangements.
George W. Hoefs was born on August 17, 1881, in Yankton, S.D. On May __, 1907, he was united in marriage with Martha L. Pagel in Fargo, N.D. He served as pastor of many Evangelical United Brethren churches in North and South Dakota before retiring to LeMars in 1938. He lived here until 1947, at which time he left here to live with his daughters. Deceased passed away at a farm home in Sac County, Iowa, near Nemaha on October 15, after a sickness of about four months. He was 72 years, 1 month and 28 days old.
Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. George (Grace) Kaiser, Nemaha, Iowa, and Mrs. Glenn (Helen) Majorowicz, Kansas City, Mo.; two grandchildren, Karen Anne and Sandra Kay Majorowicz; one brother, Henry Hoefs, Chasely, N.D.; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Hageman, Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Anna Brockmueller, Nampa, Idaho, and Mrs. Lena Horn, Burbank, Calif.
Deceased was preceded in death by his wife in 1941, seven brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church Dakota Conference.
