Rose Illingsworth

Mrs. Rose C. Illingsworth, 86, a pioneer Pocatello resident and widow of William C. Illingsworth, died at St. Anthony Community Hospital Saturday following a long illness.

Born Aug. 21, 1882, at LeMars, Iowa, she was the daughter of Herbert and Wilhelmina Bernekling Backeberg. She spent her early life in LeMars, attended schools there and graduated from Westmar College there. She taught school in Iowa until marriage to Mr. Illingsworth Jan. 11, 1906 at LeMars. They came to Pocatello where Mr. Illingsworth was a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. He died Dec. 16, 1949.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church and of the Sarah Circle of the Women's Christian Service Society of the church; a member of the Ruth Chapter No. 3, Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years; Chapter K, P.E.O.; Social Order of Beauceant; Lydia Club, Daughters of the Nile; Electa Kensington; and Sans Souel Afternoon Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Louis F. (Jean) Racine and Mrs. Charles (Margaret) Crowley; two brothers, Herbert Backeberg of Modesto, Calif. and William E. Backeberg of Paradise, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Carl (Otilia) Knepper of Downey, Calif. and Mrs. Charles (Mary) Router of Abilene, Kan.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Downard Funeral Home.

Contributions will be accepted for the Idaho Youth Ranch and the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children in Salt Lake City.
