WAS MEMBER OF PIONEER FAMILY
John Schindel, 70, passed away at his home in Sheldon, Iowa, April 18, following an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Schindel was born June 19, 1877, on the Schindel farm northeast of Hinton where he matured to manhood. He conducted a hardware store at Merrill for a number of years before moving to Sheldon in 1916.
Recently he had been in Sioux City hospital due to heart trouble but returned home several weeks ago and apparently was improving. Friday morning Mrs. Schindel found him dead in bed from a heart attack.
Survivors include his widow; one son, Loren, of Denver, Colo.; one ____, ___ City; three sisters, Mrs. Jake Berner, Mrs. Emma Nigg, and Mrs. Mary Schrader, all of Merrill.
Within the past five months, three other members of the family have passed away, his brothers Jake and Henry and a brother-in-law, Dr. H.A. Nigg.
More than 35 relatives from this vicinity went to Sheldon last week Monday to attend the funeral.
