WAS RESIDENT AT ELLENDALE 70 YEARS

John Sweeney, 88, 1014 Douglas street, Sioux City, died Monday at a hospital after a three weeks illness. Mr. Sweeney was born June 6, 1864, at Loretta, Canada. He went to Garryowne, Iowa, in 1879, and for 70 years farmed in the Ellendale community in Plymouth County. He located in Sioux City three years ago.

Solemn requiem mass was held at 9 a.m. this Thursday at the Cathedral of Epiphany in Sioux City. A nephew, Rev. Richard Sweeney of Humboldt, Iowa, was celebrant. Assisting officers of the mass was Rev. L.J. Savage, deacon, and Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.J. Berger, subdeacon.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City.
