AUGUST KILKER

August Kilker, who had been a resident of this community for the past seventy years, passed away at the Sacred Heart hospital in LeMars Friday, May 22, 1953, where he had been a patient the past six weeks.

Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday, May 25, at the St. John’s Evangelical Reformed Church with Rev. Straube officiating.

August Kilker was born in Warderfeld, Lippe Detmold, Germany on February 8, 1865. He came to this country with his parents, brothers and a sister, when he was a small child and settled at Baileyville, Ill. At the age of 18 he came to Plymouth County settling on a farm southeast of LeMars.

Mr. Kilker was united in marriage with Elizabeth Stiegert on March 6, 1889. To this union was born one son, George, and one daughter, Lydia (Mrs. Henry F. Meyer) both of this city.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth, in 1938, also by three grandchildren, two brothers, and one sister.

Besides his children, he is survived by two brothers, William and Christ, fourteen grandchildren and thirty-seven great grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

Pallbearers will be six grandsons.
