Oma Nelson, 82, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating.
Oma was born March 20, 1922, to Floyd L. and Maude Marie (Moser) Black in Kingsley, Iowa. She graduated from Kingsley High School on May 23, 1939. Oma moved to Sioux City in 1946. She worked as a cashier for Peoples Food Store and Zemanek's.
On Aug. 8, 1960, she married Nels A. Nelson in Sioux City. She was very active at the Senior Center for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Nels, of Sioux City; her children, Wayne Horsley of Sioux City, Clair and Phyllis Horsley of California; Paulette Ehrhardt of Kansas and Roddy Horsley of Washington; stepchildren, Cindy Boggs and Nels Nelson III of Minnesota, Linda Trisler of Elk Point, S.D. and Vicky Nelson of Omaha, Neb.; brothers, Delmar and Donna Black of Sioux City, Verle and Betty Black of Sioux City and Gary and May Black of Arizona; sisters, Bulah Wright of Sioux City, Joyce and Robert Wingert of Bronson, Iowa and Marlene and Lamoyne Phillips of Minnesota; 24 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son; two sisters; two brothers; a stepson; and four grandchildren.
