REMSEN, Iowa -- Fred Joseph Nacke, 101, of Henderson, Nev., formerly of Remsen and Marcus, Iowa, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, in Henderson.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Alton, Iowa. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, with a parish rosary at 3 p.m., a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., all at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Mr. Nacke was born Jan. 20, 1901, in rural Remsen, the son of George and Anna (Recker) Nacke. He was raised and educated in the Remsen area and attended Mankato Business School in Minnesota.

On Feb. 16, 1926, he married Agnes Quirin in Marcus. They farmed north of Marcus until retiring and moving into Remsen in 1966. Agnes died Oct. 15, 1999. He had resided in the loving and caring home of his son and daughter-in-law, Don and Dixie Nacke, since March 25, 2000.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Rose Mary and Frank Hogan of Hacienda Heights, Calif.; a son and his wife, Don and Dixie of Henderson, Nev.; five grandchildren, Michelle Hogan, Brad Nacke and his wife Jill, and Burt, Julie and Jill Nacke; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Alyssa Nacke.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Henry, George, Joe and Tony; and six sisters, Sister Mary (Mary) Georgia, Mrs. Frank (Liz) Kass, Mrs. Joe (Rose) Kestel, Sister Mary (Ann) Columba, Mrs. Grant (Ferne) Shaffer and Mrs. Ed (Celia) Vandermark.
