LE MARS, Iowa -- Dr. Don J. Meylor, D.C., 77, of Le Mars died peacefully Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. James Tigges officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 4 p.m., a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m., all at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume 7 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Don was born May 10, 1925, at Holbrook, Iowa, the son of Ray and Mary (Cox) Meylor. He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Cherokee, Iowa, in 1944, and then graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, in 1959. Dr. Meylor opened Meylor Chiropractic Clinic in Le Mars and worked until his retirement in 1992.

Don was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council 1466 in Le Mars. He also was a member of the Knights of the Round Table and had been chosen as Chiropractor of the Year by the Professional Chiropractic Society of America. He was a member of the Iowa Board of Chiropractic Examiners and a member of the Council of Orthopedics.

Don enjoyed spending winters at his winter home in Mission, Texas, and the summertime at Okoboji. Don also enjoyed working, spending time with family and friends and helping others.

Survivors include a special friend, Jo Irwin of Le Mars; two daughters, Sandy Updegraff and her husband, David of Sioux City, and Kathy Mahnke and her husband, Gary of Weslaco, Texas; three sons, Dr. Ray Meylor and his wife, Susan of Ames, Iowa, Mark Meylor and his wife, Rhonda of Sioux City, and David Meylor and his wife, Tracy of Le Mars; 11 grandchildren, Alan Mahnke, Amy Mahnke Gonzales, Becky Meylor, Sarah Meylor, Matthew Meylor, Shane Meylor, Lindsay Meylor, Kyle Meylor, Aaron Johnson, Brent Johnson and April Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Mary Jane Gonzales, Colease Autumn Lee and Hunter Meylor; two brothers, Paul Meylor and his wife, Betty, and Dr. R.J. Meylor and his wife, Ann, all of Le Mars; three sisters, Ann Hoomany and her husband, John of Boca Raton, Fla., Jharleth "Ginger" Sitzmann of Le Mars, and Dr. Ramona Kennedy and her husband, Dr. Al of Cherokee; and 26 nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Meylor; infant twin grandsons, Raymond Andrew and Aaron Jude Meylor; a brother, Dean Meylor; a sister, Mary "Elaine" Meylor; and a brother-in-law, Roman Sitzmann.
