LE MARS, Iowa -- Earsel Ladessa McPherson, 84, of Le Mars died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at The Abbey in Le Mars.
Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, with the Rev. Tom Shinkle of Calvary United Methodist Church officiating. There will be no visitation.
Earsel Ladessa McPherson was born Sept. 22, 1917, in Sloan, Iowa, to Delbert and Mae (Beebe) McPherson. As a young girl the family moved to South Dakota, where she was raised and educated. Her father passed away when she was quite young, so following her education she remained at home to assist her mother.
She farmed with her brother and helped her mother raise two nephews. After her mother passed away, she farmed briefly with her brother prior to moving to Rapid City, S.D. She made her home with Milo McPherson and worked as a caregiver and at a local hotel. She later moved to Parkston, S.D., where she lived in a care facility. She continued her care giving career when she moved to Onawa, Iowa, and Sioux City. She moved to The Abbey on July 2, 1997.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two special nephews whom she and her mother raised, William Landon and Raymond Neuharth; and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers and sisters, Lottie Christensen, Glen McPherson, Ernest McPherson, Vena Gilbert, Edna McPherson and Violet Neuharth.
