KINGSLEY, Iowa -- Helma A. Krueger, 78, of Kingsley passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Kingsley, with the Rev. Paul Evans officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Anthon, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rohde-Earnest Funeral Home in Kingsley.

Helma was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Danbury, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Johanna Scheer. She was raised on a farm with a large loving family and was very proud of the respect that they had for each other and their parents.

She married Donald Krueger on March 14, 1945, in Sioux City. They farmed in Oto, Iowa, later in Correctionville, Iowa, and finally moved to Pierson, Iowa, in 1957. After retirement, the couple moved to Kingsley, where she took great pride in caring for the Kingsley Community Center and sharing special times with their retired farm friends, Melvin and Phyllis Monke. Later, she enjoyed crocheting afghans and planting beautiful flowers.

She always enjoyed preparing large holiday meals for her family. When gatherings occurred at her home, most of the time was spent in her kitchen tasting her treats and having the kindness of her companionship. She was always very proud of her family, five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was an active member of United Methodist Church, where she participated in Eve's Circle.

She is survived by her husband, Don of Kingsley; two daughters, Donna and her husband, Ronnie Christophersen of Climbing Hill, Iowa, and Brenda Sargisson of Kingsley; a son and his wife, Randy and Nancy Krueger of Sioux City; a brother, Alfred Scheer of Correctionville, Iowa; two sisters, Lorraine Scheer of Correctionville and Mazel Buettner of Anthon, Iowa; two grandsons and their wives, Terry and Jenny Christophersen and Nathan and Kelly Sargisson; three granddaughters and their husbands, Kim and Steve Steffen, Jenny and Mark Vos and Nicole and Kirk Lindgren; and 11 great-grandchildren, Matthew and Malakie Christophersen, Sidney and Jacob Steffen, Brooke, Hanna and Grace Vos, Grant and Jake Sargisson and Max and Dexter Lindgren.
