MOVILLE, Iowa -- Ruth Mable Krueger, 84, of Moville died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Kingsley Nursing & Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moville United Methodist Church in Moville, with the Rev. Harold E. Werley officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith McCulloch Chapel in Moville.
Mrs. Krueger was born April 5, 1919, in Pierson, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Lucy (McKee) Mahnke. She lived in Pierson until the fourth grade before moving to Correctionville, Iowa. She graduated from Correctionville High School in 1936 and Simpson College in 1937. She was a teacher at Moville Township and Wolf Creek Township schools, like Bunny Hollow 6. She then moved to Petaluma, Calif.
She married Julius "Pete" Krueger on Aug. 1, 1939, in Petaluma. They lived in Petaluma and Vallejo, Calif., for five years before moving to Woodbury County, Iowa, in 1945. She then worked at St. Joseph Hospital and Marian Health Center for more than 20 years as a nurses' aide and physical therapy technician. She also worked as a teachers' aide at Woodbury Central School.
She was a member of Moville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley and Larry DeBuse of Moville, Mary Lou and Terry Petersen of Moville, and JoAnn and Doug Williams of Bronson, Iowa; a son and his wife, Gene and Kathy Krueger of Spirit Lake, Iowa; a brother and his wife, Bob and Norma Mahnke of Cherokee, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Clara Houston of Pocahontas, Iowa, Bernice Mahnke of Des Moines, and Betty Mahnke of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jon Karl Krueger; her husband, Julius "Pete" Krueger in 1974; two brothers, Gene and John Mahnke; and a stepgrandson, Kaden DeBuse.
Pallbearers will be Bart Petersen, Jimmie Krueger, Josh Bliel, Pete Laven, Randy Wright, Jason Garnand, Travis Thomas, Jeff Weber and Kirk Fedderson.
