LE MARS, Iowa -- David George Konz, 44, of Le Mars, formerly of Remsen, Iowa, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Remsen, with the Rev. Timothy Johnson officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Granville, Iowa. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Monday at Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.
Mr. Konz was born May 11, 1960, in rural Granville, the son of Raymond and Monica (Bode) Konz. He lived in the Granville area until 1965, when he moved with his family to Remsen. He received his education in Remsen and graduated from Remsen Union High School in 1978.
He was employed with CLM Construction of Le Mars for many years. He was later employed simultaneously at Mullally's East Side Restaurant and Van's Sanitation both of Le Mars. Because of health reasons he later only worked part-time as a bartender at the Hi-Lite in Le Mars.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila of Le Mars; two daughters, Ashley and Amber, both of Sibley, Iowa; four sisters and their husbands, Barbara and Arden Blake of Le Mars, Beverly and Calvin Towne of Sloan, Iowa, Deborah and Steve Wright of Donna, Texas, and Kristy and Mark Gorman of Fonda, Iowa; two brothers, Raymond and his wife, Tonia and Melvin, all of Remsen; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joey in infancy and Claire; and a sister, Mary Ann in infancy.
Pallbearers will be Raymond and Melvin Konz, Chad Gravenish, Ed Jones, Kevin Mouser and Dale Stoos.
