She was able to achieve her childhood dreams and so much more. She fulfilled the first of her dreams of living in the American Southwest, when she and Al and the boys moved to Phoenix in 1952.

She pursued her second of the dreams by graduating with honors from Arizona State University in 1966. She began a 21-year career in primary education in the Deer Valley School District.

Her dream of visiting the Canadian Rocky Mountains and seeing Lake Louise was realized several times over. The couple spent summers traveling the United States and Canada in a succession of travel trailers and motorhomes.

Her brother, Walter Onnen and sister, Norma Miller, preceded her in death. Survivors include sisters, Dolores Dreeszen of South Sioux City, Millie Lawrence of Salix, Iowa, and Stella McConahie of Montague, Calif.

Betty will be greatly missed by the many friends, in-laws, cousins and the large number of nieces and nephews she leaves behind.
