IRETON, Iowa -- Hollis Karr, 89, of Le Mars, Iowa, formerly of Ireton, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Porter Funeral Home in Ireton. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Hollis Maxwell Karr was born Dec. 20, 1912, near Ireton, the son of John and Mary Mae (Johnston) Karr. He attended Center Township 9 country school and graduated from Ireton High School in 1931. Hollis farmed near Ireton until his retirement in 1998. He moved to Plymouth Manor Care Center on March 28, 2002.

He was a member of Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Le Mars.

Surviving relatives include a special friend, Mildred Hansen of Alton, Iowa; two brothers and their wives, Weston and Edna Karr of Le Mars and Kenyon and Luella Karr of Ireton; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leland, Thurlow and Lyman Karr.
