Lester Konz, 82, of Alton, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2005, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Center in Le Mars.

Lester Konz was born July 17, 1922, at rural Alton, the son of Math and Anna (Mousel) Konz.

Lester was raised in the Alton area and received his education at St. Mary's Academy in Alton. He then assisted his brother Leonard in farming near Alton. He had been a resident of Brentwood Good Samaritan Center since Nov. 27, 1996.

Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Edmund (Verena) Pottebaum and Mrs. Robert (Marian) Kinney both of Alton, Mrs. Norbert (Rose) Wolf of Sioux City; one brother, Leonard and his wife, Esther of Alton; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Magnus (Honey) Konz of Hospers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Magnus and LeRoy; one sister, Mrs. Martin (Loretta) Klein; and four brothers-in-law, Edmund Pottebaum, Robert Kinney, Norbert Wolf, Martin Klein.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton with the Rev. John Vakulskas officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Alton. Friends may call any time after 2 p.m. MOnday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. by St. Mary's Rosary Society and a vigil prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at the church. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers will be Bob Alesch, Bob Kinney Jr., Gary Konz, Jim Konz, Marv Pottebaum and Ron Wolf.
