LE MARS, Iowa -- Loretta M. Zimmer, 90, of Le Mars died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Richard Ries officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a parish rosary at 4 p.m., and a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m., at Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars.

Mrs. Zimmer was born Nov. 6, 1910, in Sainte Genevieve, Mo., the daughter of John and Emma (Kiefer) Hoog. She attended Sainte Genevieve Elementary and Vale High School in Sainte Genevieve. After high school she attended Columbia University in Columbia, Mo., and Southeast Missouri State College in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She received her degree in elementary education and taught school for 18 years.

She met her husband, Ralph, after he was discharged from the military in 1946. A year later on Feb. 10, 1947, the couple were married at Sainte Genevieve Catholic Church. They spent their honeymoon in West Palm Beach. Mr. Zimmer died Dec. 24, 2000, in Le Mars. The couple moved to Le Mars and joined St. Mary's Catholic Church in 1950. She had been a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Ladies Aid Society for more than 50 years.

Survivors include two sons and their families, James F. and Pat Zimmer of Atlanta, Ga., and their children, Tammy, Tawnya, Christopher and Katherine, and Gerald J. and Mary Zimmer of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, and their daughter, Beth; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Sharon Zimmer of Le Mars, and Vince and Anita Zimmer of Kansas City; three brothers, Urban Hoog of Sainte Genevieve, and Vincent and Alois Hoog, both of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Jeannette Lee of Fullerton, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
