BARBARA TAMM BERGLUND, 80, of Cherokee, Iowa, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2009 in the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cherokee. Rev. Magrey deVega will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home.

Barbara was born July 20, 1928 in Denison, Iowa to Clarence Henry and Marie (Weiss) Tamm. She graduated from Denison High School and attended Stevens College in Columbia, MO. for 2 years and University of Iowa for 2 years, graduating with a teaching degree. She was married to Glen Robert Berglund on March 29, 1952 at Denison, Iowa. She taught school in the Cherokee Community Schools for several years. She made her home in Cherokee and had also lived in Cedar Falls and LeMars, Iowa and was originally from Denison. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, P.E.O., AAUW and the Cherokee Symphony Board. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and time spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Glen on April 4, 1996.

She is survived by her five children: Ann Barbara Berglund of Tuscon, Arizona; William Robert Berglund and his wife Jennifer of Austin, Texas; Mary Joyce Fisher and her husband Jeff of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Patricia Tamm Berglund of Parker, Colorado; Richard Glen Berglund of Lakewood, Colorado; 6 grandchildren: Patricia Marie Fisher, Emily Barbara Fisher, Donald Glen Fisher, Hannah Mary Pobar, Amy Jo Pobar; and Kathryn Lee Berglund; one great grandson Alex; one sister Joyce Curtis of Ft. Worth, Texas; one brother Clifford Tamm and his wife Judy of Harlan, Iowa.
