LAST RITES FOR MRS. J. L. BALDWIN
Was Well Known Resident Of The County In The Early Eighties
Last rites were held Tuesday afternoon in the Beely mortuary chapel for Mrs. Lucy Baldwin, aged 81, of Worthington, Minn., who died at her home there February 22, from illness due to old age and complications.
Rev. F. E. Burgess, pastor of the First Methodist church, conducted the services which were attended by a number of old friends and interment was made in the city cemetery.
Lucy Abigail Benjamin was born February 4, 1852, in New York state where she grew to young womanhood and was married to James L. Baldwin. Following their marriage they lived for a few years in New York state and then came to Iowa and located in Le Mars in the early eighties, moving several years later to Minnesota where they farmed for eighteen years. They moved to Worthington about twenty years ago to make their home.
Mr. Baldwin preceded his wife in death seventeen year ago. Three children to them all died in infancy.
The family if well remembered by older residents in Le Mars and Fredonia township.
