DULUTH, Minn. -- George Carl Otto Kaiser, 96, formerly of North Shore Driver, Duluth, Minn., died Monday, Aug. 14, 2006, in St. Luke's Hospice.

George was born Sept. 16, 1909 in Neponset, Ill., the son of Otto and Martha (Prince) Kaiser. At the age of 9, following the death of his mother, the Kaiser family moved to Le Mars, where George cotninued his school years.

In the winter of 1946, George married Grace Hoefs. George was a general farmer for several years in both Illinois and Iowa which also included bee keeping. George served as a missionary with World Vision which took, him to many different countries spreading the Gospel.

In 1963, George and Grace moved to Duluth, Minn., and made their home on North Shore Drive. George owned and operated Twin Ports Bible and Book for many years until selling in the mid-1970s.

George was a very active and dedicated member involved in the work of The Gideons International for many years. He had attended Northshore Baptist Church.

Survivors include his brother, Willie John Kaiser; two nephews, Larry and George Krahn; five nieces, Karen Manorwicz, Sandy Sutton, Harriet Manning, Joan Hagy and Carol Wisener; numers great-nieces and nephews; numerous great-great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-great-nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Leon and Darlene Kahlstorf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto in 1938 and Martha in 1918; stepmother, Mary Elizabeth; his wife, Grace, who died in February 1993; and a sister, Hattie Krahn in 1994.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Thursday in Bell Brothers Jarvi-Dowd Chapel, 925 East Fourth St., Duluth, Minn. A second time of visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in Le Mars, followed by an 11 a.m. graveside service in Le Mars Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert (Bob) Taber of Des Moines officiating. Taber was a former pastor of George's during the 1950s in Iowa.

Memorials are preferred to Gideons International, P.O. Box 3622, Duluth, Minn. 55803-3622.
